DIR® SOCIAL SKILLS GROUP INFORMATION

MUSIC | MOVEMENT | SENSORY | PLAY | GUIDED PEER INTERACTION

Our social skills groups focus on social emotional development, the underlying foundation for communication, socialization, relationships, self-esteem, academic success, mental health, and overall well-being.  Weekly groups take place at We Rock the Spectrum in Boca Raton, and are designed to encourage peer interaction and socialization through developmentally appropriate activities and DIR Floortime®️techniques.  We accommodate children of all abilities and levels of functioning, ages 3-12 years.

DIR® is the Developmental Individual-difference Relationship-based Model developed by the late child psychiatrist Dr. Stanley Greenspan and clinical psychologist Dr. Serena Wieder.

DIR Floortime® is an effective, evidence-based, developmental approach to intervention that focuses on both emotional and cognitive development together.  By building an emotional foundation, research has proven that children with disorders in communicating and relating, are able to drastically improve the ability to communicate meaningfully, socialize and relate to others, control impulses, and develop academic and higher level thinking skills.

DIR Floortime® combines the child's developmental level of functioning, sensory-processing profile, and relationships to build an emotional foundation for all future learning and functional life success.  Experiences are emotionally meaningful to the child in order to develop an intrinsic motivation to learn, communicate, and relate.
